Instructions for Chemical Peels

Instructions Prior to your chemical peel

Please observe the following

  • Use a glycolic cleanser or L.Latic cleanser for two weeks prior to the peel. This will allow your skin to better tolerate the peel.
  • Apply an even blend serum both morning and night
  • Apply topical vitamin C to the face daily two weeks prior to your chemical peel.
  • Apply topical retinol to your skin to stimulate your retinoic cell receptors.
  • Use an SPF 50+ every morning
  • Discuss with your treating Doctor or Registered Nurse what to do if you are prone to cold sores.
  • No prolonged sun exposure to the face 24 hours prior to your treatment. A Micro-needling treatment will not be administered on sunburned skin.
  • On the day of the treatment, please keep your face clean and do not apply makeup.
  • If an active or extreme breakout occurs before treatment, please consult a Doctor and wait 6 months following oral isotretinoin use.

After your skin chemical peel treatment

Your Doctor or Registered Nurse performing your treatment will review with you what to expect following your skin needling treatment.

For 24 hours post treatment

  • Avoid smoking for 12 hours
  • Do not touch the treated area/s for 4 hours
  • No exercising or physical exertion
  • Do not apply make up

For 5-10 days post treatment

  • Do not apply skin actives; vitamin c, vitamin A (Retinol), glycolic scrub or cleanser, lactic acid, Salicylic acid, hdroquinone, AHA, BHA’s and benzoyl peroxide.
  • Do not pick or pull any flaking skin
  • No exfoliating
  • Home needling
  • Anti-wrinkle injections
  • No sun exposure to the treated area

For 2 weeks post reatment

  • No other treatments should be performed on the treated area for a minimum of 2 weeks unless advised otherwise.
  • Do not apply fake tan on the treated area
  • Avoid swimming in chlorine pools, the ocean and or fresh water, rivers and lakes for 1 week.
  • No waxing, bleaching or hair dying any areas to be treated
  • Deplatory use in any treated area
  • Electrolysis on any treated area

Best practices following your anti-wrinkle injection appointment.

  • Only use mineral make up for 7 days post treatment
  • Only cleanse gently, apply a hydrating serum and moisturizer / repair balm
  • A broad spectrum sunblock must be worn
  • Increase water intake for at least 8 glasses per day

What to expect after your chemical peel treatment

  • Mild sun/wind burn feeling
  • Tenderness
  • Dry/tight feeling
  • Possible mild inflammation/swelling
  • Mild flaking
  • Pigmentation lit – dark rough patches may appear. This is normal and it will fade.

If you are experiencing any of the following please call the clinic.

  • Oozing at the treated site
  • Open lesions or wounds
  • Signs of infection – Increased swelling, tenderness, pain and warmth at the site that increases in intensity.
  • Any bleeding

Additional Information

Full effects from your chemical peel treatment will take from 1 to 2 weeks. For your happiness we recommend you attend a 2 week follow up appointment.

For full effect from your chemical treatment we recommend a series of 3 – 6 treatments 4 weeks apart. We recommend to make easy and save you money to take advantage of our package prices.
